Rickie Dominates Honda Classic
Rickie Fowler may not have played the prettiest round at Sunday’s Honda Classic, but at the end of the day, it didn’t really matter. Going into Day 4, Rickie had a 4-shot lead and was looking good. Then things got a bit interesting when he hit one putt into a sprinkler hole and took a tee shot into the water.
Those two flubs took Rickie’s lead down to one, but fortunately he answered brilliantly with two huge birdie putts to regain control and take the crystal trophy. In the end, Rickie closed with a four-shot win over Gary woodland, who was the only player to give him any kind of a challenge.
The win marks Rickie’s first PGA Tour victory since the Deutsche Bank Championship in September 2015. It’s nice to see him back in winning form.

Arnie’s Hot Shoes
In golf memorabilia news, a pair of Arnold Palmer’s shoes that he wore to win the 1958 Masters went up for auction this weekend. Needless to say, these black and white wingtips garnered a lot of attention. The shoes were gifted to Palmer by his personal pilot and each shoe was signed by Arnie in permanent marker.
The estimated value of the shoes going into auction was $15,000. Ultimately they sold for $66,000.
"You could have gotten these shoes for $5,000 any time in the last 20 years," Ryan Carey, co-owner of Green Jacket Auctions, told ESPN. "But Palmer's death created a category of people scrambling to get pieces associated with him."
This is the sixth-highest amount paid for an athlete’s shoes with two pairs from Muhammad Ali, two pairs from Michael Jordan and a pair of Johnny Unitas cleats going for more. Ironically, when Arnold Palmer won the 1958 Masters, his winnings amounted to $11,250.
