Get Excited About Golf in 2020

If you’re not pumped about golf in 2020, you’ve probably been living under a rock for the past year.  We know it’s technically still football season (SKOL Vikings!) but we cannot wait to see how some of these storylines unfold in our favorite sport.  Here’s what we’re most stoked about this coming year:

  • Tiger is playing some of the best golf of his career and is the defending Masters Champion. Love him or hate him, golf is more exciting when Tiger is playing well and 2020 is setting up to be another great year for Tiger.  He was fire at the President’s Cup and while we’re not sure if he’ll defend his Masters win from 2019, there is a pretty good shot he’ll be in contention again and could very likely win his 16th major next year.
  • USA! USA! USA! Do you hear that chant? The Olympics are back baby and the PGA schedule is actually set up to encourage the best of the best to tee it up for the gold in Tokyo this year.  We won’t know until the beginning of July who will officially represent America, but since the Olympics is using the world golf rankings to determine who is eligible (maximum 60 players total with a limit of 4 per country), we should have a pretty good idea about how things are shaping up in the coming months and which American is going to de-throne Justin Rose.
  • The LPGA is poised to have it’s first #1 ranked American since Stacy Lewis briefly held the title in 2014. Nelly Korda is coming off an absolutely stellar 2019 with 12 top 10 finishes and she rounded out the season with a win in Taiwan and a tie for 3rd at the CME Group Tourney.  We’ll see if she can carry the good vibes over to the new year, but here’s hoping!
  • The 2020 product lines look better than ever. We’d love to tell you that manufacturers make improvements and get a little bit better every year, but unfortunately we’d be lying.  There are some years where the new products are complete duds.  Lucky for you, 2020 is shaping up to be very good.  In the next month, we’ll have new club lines from Cobra, Callaway and TaylorMade, all of which look very, very good.  New apparel and shoes will start arriving in early February and the looks from Adidas, Puma, William Murray and Nike are bolder and better looking than ever.

Paul Azinger’s Predictions for 2020

As NBC’s lead golf analyst and PGA Tour vet, Zinger seems to have his pulse, as much as anyone, on what is happening in the world of golf.  He put together five predictions for 2020 and let’s just say that they are not what you’d expect!  Check them out here: https://www.golf.com/news/2020/01/03/paul-azinger-bold-pga-tour-predictions-2020/

Golf Fore Africa Goal Met!

Golf Fore Africa

If you hadn’t heard, Austad’s Golf partnered with LPGA Pro, Amy Olson, this holiday season to raise funds to build wells in Zambia.  Amy brought the organization to our attention when we met her several years ago at an LPGA event.  The cost to build one well is $15,000, which is not small, but when you consider the far-reaching impact of bringing clean water to a community, the impact is huge.

Our goal was to help Amy raise enough to build one well ($15,000) and we’re happy to say that the official total is in and with the Austad’s Golf match, we absolutely crushed it with a total of over $50,000!  This allows Golf Fore Africa to build an entire water system for a larger community that will bring clean water to schools and more.  Thank you sincerely to everyone who contributed this holiday season.  Don’t forget that donations can be made year round! https://golfforeafrica.org/

Just Fore Fun: Check Out This Incredible Putt

I’d love to say that I have the patience to set up something this intricate and amazing, but let’s be honest, unless you’re a student, who’s got the time!  That being said, major props to the guys who set this up.
