Spring is teasing, the Masters is calling, and golf season is just close enough to feel dangerous—in a good way. This month, we’re talking dream Masters menus (with a little Norwegian twist), a $200 launch monitor that’s making serious noise, and the three biggest fitting mistakes we refuse to let happen. Oh—and PXG is officially landing at Austad’s.
Grab a coffee, take a deep breath, and let’s get your game (and your mindset) ready for the season.
3 THINGS WE'RE TALKING ABOUT
1. The Austad’s “Master’s Meal”
Rory, the 2025 champ, put together quite the spread at this year's Master's dinner—bacon-wrapped dates, filet mignon, and seared salmon. Not bad, not bad.
But it got us thinking… what wouldyour Masters menu look like?
At Austad’s, with our strong Norwegian roots, we might go a slightly different direction: smoked salmon, lefse, lutefisk, and a little fårikål to round things out. Not exactly Augusta National’s usual fare—but hey, champions get to call the shots. Too bad Viktor Hovland wouldn't be at the table… he’d feel right at home.
At just $200, it delivers the data that actually matters:
Club speed
Ball speed
Smash factor
Carry + total distance
Session tracking
If you’re looking for a cost-effective way to dial in your numbers, this is about as good as it gets.
Fair warning—these are flying off the shelves. At the time of writing, we’re nearly sold out, and the next shipment isn’t until May. If you’ve been thinking about it… now’s the time to make the call or get on the waiting list.
3. Three Things You Should NEVER Accept in a Fitting
At Austad’s, fittings aren’t just something we do—it’s what we pride ourselves on. As a Top 100 fitter for every major brand and Golf Digest, we know the good, the bad, and the downright ugly.
Here are 3 things that make our blood boil when it comes to fittings:
#1 – Fitting for max distance (and nothing else) Distance matters… but it’s not everything. Chasing raw yardage without understanding your goals can actually hurt your game. The best fit is aboutyour swing andyour outcomes.
#2 – Subpar technology The fitting is only as good as the data. And the data is only as good as the launch monitor. Period.
We use Foresight Sports—one of the most validated and trusted technologies in the game. Be picky about where you get fit. It matters.
#3 – Making it feel like a root canal Ever been in a fitting that felt more like a doctor’s exam than a golf experience? Yeah… that’s not how it should be.
Fittings should be:
Fun
Educational
Transparent
Pro tip: Always bring your current clubs so you can compare. The goal is simple—help you play better and enjoy the game more.
📌 2 Things You Need to Know
1. PXG is Available NOW At Austad's
This is a big one.
PXG—known for premium tech, fully customizable gear, and a limited distribution model—is officially available at every Austad's location - both for fitting and stock.
With limited distribution not everyone had access to see, feel, and hit PXG clubs. That changes now (at least for Austad's customers - lucky you!).
Quick question: do you know the ideal ratio of positive to negative interactions for healthy relationships?
5:1.
Five positives for every one negative. That applies to:
Marriage
Friendships
Parenting
…and maybe even your golf game.
What’s your swing thought ratio right now? If you’re like most of us… it’s not 5:1.
New goal for 2026: bring a 5:1 mindset to the course. Worst case? You have more fun. Best case? You might actually play better. Not a bad trade-off.
❤️ Mission Moment
March Madness wrapped up a few weeks ago and what a tournament.
There’s a clip floating around of a Boston College player from a few years back talking about what it means to be part of something bigger than yourself. He boiled it down in the simplest way possible.
At the end of the day… it’s about the people.
As golfers, we get that. The rounds, the laughs, the missed putts, the road trips—it’s all about who you’re sharing it with. Sometimes, it’s as simple as “going out to eat” after the round.
Play well this April. Stay positive. And don’t be afraid to give yourself a breakfast ball every now and again.
