Bag Mapping FAQ's
Commonly asked questions about our Gap Analysis
What is a Map My Bag Gap Analysis, and how does it work?
A Map My Bag Gap Analysis is a data-driven distance mapping session that uses a launch monitor like the GCQuad or GC3 to measure your real carry and total distances with every club. The Map My Bag software builds a complete profile of your current set, showing distance gaps, overlaps, and opportunities to improve your bag setup.
How is a Gap Analysis different from a RetroFit?
A Gap Analysis focuses on distance gapping and set makeup—helping you understand how each club performs and whether the set flows correctly from top to bottom. A Retrofit, on the other hand, focuses on adjusting the clubs themselves (loft/lie, grips, shafts, length, swing weight).
Think of it this way: Gap Analysis diagnoses performance spacing, while Retrofit diagnoses equipment fit.
Do I need a Gap Analysis or a Retrofit first?
If you're unsure how far your clubs actually go—or whether your set is structured correctly—start with the Gap Analysis. If you already know your distances but struggle with direction, consistency, or launch, a Retrofit may be the better first step. Many golfers benefit from doing both, but Gap Analysis often gives the clearest roadmap.
Will Map My Bag tell me which clubs I should add or remove from my set?
Yes. Map My Bag highlights distance overlaps and missing yardages, allowing our fitters to recommend which clubs to keep, which to replace, and what additions (like a new wedge or hybrid) would complete your set. It’s the easiest way to build a bag that covers every yardage you need.
Can the Gap Analysis detect issues that require a Retrofit?
Absolutely. Many golfers discover that distance inconsistencies are caused by incorrect lofts, lie angles, or shafts. If the Gap Analysis reveals equipment issues, our team can perform a Retrofit to fix those problems and optimize your existing clubs.
How will a Gap Analysis improve my on-course performance?
You’ll get a personalized yardage chart that removes guesswork and improves club selection on every hole. Knowing your exact carry distances helps with smarter course management, better wedge play, and more confidence under pressure—especially on approach shots.
Do I need to bring all my clubs to the Gap Analysis?
Yes. To build your complete digital bag profile, we need to measure every club you use during a normal round—driver through wedges. This ensures the Map My Bag system gives you a complete, accurate view of your set and allows us to recommend any changes or Retrofit adjustments if needed.
