Stand Bag vs Cart Bag: Which One is Right For You?

Wednesday, June 1, 2016 12:14:28 PM America/North_Dakota/Center

Stand Bag vs Cart Bag

Right off the bat, let’s just get this out of the way – there is no right answer to the Stand Bag vs. Cart Bag question.  When it comes to choosing the right golf bag, what works well for one golfer might not fit the playing style of another.  You’ll want to focus on your own style of play and find a bag that really works with how you like to approach the golf course.  Here’s our quick guide to golf bags:

Cart Golf Bag Overview

Titleist Cart BagWhen you think of a golf bag, the image of a traditional cart bag is probably what comes to mind.  This type of bag was designed to be used on a riding or push cart and would probably make for a challenging round if you tried to walk the course with it.  At its core, a cart bag is a bag with a hard bottom, club dividers, pockets and single strap, but there is a huge range of options when it comes to the little extras that can really put your bag over the top.

Cart Bag Highlights:

     - Storage-Friendly – Cart bags typically come with a lot of pockets that offer ample space to store your golf gear.  You’ll have no problem finding a place for rain suits, umbrellas, sunblock, refreshments or really anything else that you might want to access on the course.

     - Option-Friendly – There are so many options and extras that you can get with a cart bag.  Cooler pockets, umbrella straps, full-length 14-way dividers, rangefinder clips and valuable pockets are just a few of the many options you can get on a typical cart bag.

     - Easy Access – Because these bags were designed to be used on a cart, pockets were placed with access in mind.  A good cart bag should allow you to easily access all of the pockets while the bag is strapped onto the cart.

     - Cart-Friendly – Of course, by definition, these solid bags are designed to be used on a cart.

The Bottom Line: If you don’t enjoy walking on the golf course or prefer to always use a push or pull cart, a cart bag is probably for you.  Cart bags are also great for individuals who like the organization and storage options that lighter-weight stand bags don’t generally provide.

Shop Cart Bags

Stand Golf Bag Overview

Nike Stand BagStand bags or carry bags are unique in the fact that they feature two retractable legs which allow you to stand the bag up securely while on the golf course.  They generally feature a comfortable double-strap or backpack style strap, which helps even the load and distribute the weight of the golf bag evenly across the shoulders.

Stand Bag Highlights:

     - Lightweight – A golf bag that is designed to be carried can be anywhere from 2 to 6 pounds lighter than comparable cart bags.

     - Simpler Design – The lightweight design generally means that the golf bag design will be simpler, feature fewer pockets and while some stand bags do include 14-way dividers, most will have fewer club dividers.  Most stand bags will generally offer fewer of the “bells and whistles” that many cart bags feature.

     - Comfortable Design – Stand bags were made to be carried and most manufacturers have taken care to design straps and padding that will make your round as enjoyable as possible.

     - Cart-Friendly – Even though stand golf bags were designed to be carried, all stand bags are both push and riding cart-friendly, meaning you get the best of both worlds.

The Bottom Line: If you think that there is a chance that you may want to walk the golf course at all, a stand bag is probably your best bet.  There is a wide range of stand bags on the market from extremely lightweight and streamlined to more robust, tricked out bags, there is most assuredly a stand bag out there to suit your game.

Shop Stand Bags

Other Golf Bag Options

We should also mention here that there are some other options when it comes to choosing a golf bag.  Staff Bags like the ones seen on professional golf tours can really make a statement.  Staff bags are generally very high quality, are very large and are generally much heavier than other types of golf bags.  The weight isn’t really an issue for PGA Pros who have caddies to carry the load, but for a recreational golfer, a more compact, lightweight option is probably the way to go.

Carry Bags or “Sunday Bags” are another option for golfers who just want a simple, lightweight bag to walk the course with.  Averaging just 2 pounds of weight, these are by far the lightest type of golf bag on the market.  Bag designers were able to eliminate weight from the bag by removing some of the structural touches, the stand and by using lighter-weight materials.  If you like to walk, don’t need a lot of pockets and don’t really need a stand, then a carry bag could be a great option for you.

Hopefully now that you know a bit more about the different types of golf bags on the market, you can make an educated decision about which bag will be right for your game.  At Austad’s, we carry a full range of golf bags with a variety of styles and options from the top brands in golf.

Memorial Day Golf 101

Wednesday, May 25, 2016 10:58:47 AM America/North_Dakota/Center

Memorial Day Golf 101

Memorial Day Weekend in America is the unofficial start to summer.  For many workers, it’s a 3-day weekend that is filled with food, family, friends and hopefully a little sunshine.  For a lot of lucky individuals, it’s also the perfect time to hit the course.  Here’s what you need to know in order to make the most out of your golf this Memorial Day Weekend.

1. Courses Will Be Busy

Due to the extra time off, courses typically see an increase in traffic over the holiday weekend.  Make sure you book your tee time early to ensure that you can get on the course when it works with your schedule.  You’ll also want to prepare for a slower pace of play.  More golfers on the course means potentially longer wait times, so block off a little extra time in your schedule and make sure that you play with people who you really enjoy!

Golf Buddies2. Come Prepared

The great part about playing golf on Memorial Day Weekend is that it is really geared towards fun.  There are a lot of people hitting the courses that often don’t have time to play, so don’t take yourself too seriously and come prepared to have some fun on the course.  Here are a few ideas for you to amp up the fun:

Bring a Cooler – Stock it with beer, water or whatever you like to drink.  It’ll probably be warm so make sure you stay hydrated!
Music – If you have access to them, bring some portable Bluetooth speakers and blast the tunes.  The music will help set the tone for a fun round with folks you love.
Food – A little snack never hurt anyone, right?  Pack a bag with some goodies and you’ll easily become the hit of your foursome.

3. Outfit yourself

It’s a little-known secret that the key to success on the golf course is looking good.  There is something about a stylish outfit that gives you a boost of confidence as you step to the first tee.  If you have a chance, stop out to your local golf shop and pick up a new polo and be ready to rock the fairway like your own personal runway.

4. Bring the fam

If you don’t normally golf with family, Memorial Day Weekend is the perfect time to hit the course with your family.  If you have kids that haven’t been exposed to the sport, it’s the perfect time to bring them with you and let them hit the ball around.  Just don’t set expectations that are too high.  Keep it relaxed and casual and you’ll have a great time.

5. Have some fun

If you take anything away from this post, remember that above all else, Memorial Day Weekend Golf should be fun.  Holidays are all about spending time with friends and family and hitting the links with the ones you love is a perfect way to make the most out of the extended weekend.

M1 vs M2 - Which Driver is Right for You?

Friday, February 19, 2016 10:45:34 AM America/North_Dakota/Center

TaylorMade M1 vs M2

If you’re a golfer, your’re in a great position because there are no shortage of fantastic driver options on the market.  TaylorMade is one company that year after year, seems to crank out the most dominant metal woods on tour and for the average joe.

New for 2016, TaylorMade has two fantastic driver options that will add distance to your long game and give you an extra dose of forgiveness.  The M1 and M2 drivers may seem similar in both name and style on the surface, but there are some key differences that mean one driver might be just the thing you need while the other can stay on the shelf.  Here’s what you need to know about TaylorMade’s new drivers and how you can choose the right model for you:

Both the M1 and M2 drivers were constructed with the same materials.  The “M” actually stands for Multi-Material, meaning that both drivers use a combination of metals to move weight around to get you the optimal amount of distance and forgiveness.

TaylorMade’s big highlight on both clubs is the 7-layer Carbon Composite Crown.  What this boils down to is an ultra-thin, ultra-light and ultra-strong top, which allows TaylorMade to save weight and put it where you really need it.

Key Differences: None really.  Both the M1 and M2 utilize the same materials and were constructed essentially the same way.

Here’s where the big differences between the M1 and M2 come into play.  In a nutshell, if you like to tinker with your shots and desire the ability to really dial in your game, the M1 gives you whole lot of adjustability.  The M2 offers some of the same adjustability features, but TaylorMade designed this club to be as forgiving as possible, meaning you may not need the ability to tweak the club settings.

TaylorMade M1 DriverTaylorMade M1 Adjustability:

There are two areas where you can adjust this driver to really personalize your shot.  The T-Track System is TaylorMade’s revolutionary system which consists of a front and back track with 25 grams of adjustable weight.

  • The front track gives you one 15 gram weight, which can be used to craft multiple draw, neutral and fade settings.
  • The back track gives you one 10 gram weight, which can be adjusted for multiple high, medium and low launch and spin settings.

The M1 also offers a Loft Sleeve, which allows you to adjust the face angle up to 2 degrees in either direction (4 degrees total with 12 settings).  Available lofts include 8.5, 9.5, 10.5 and 12.

TaylorMade M2 DriverTaylorMade M2 Adjustability:

While the M2 Driver does not include the T-Track System, which allows golfers to dial in almost any shot, it does boast an absolutely massive sweet spot.  It was engineered with a high MOI, Inverted Cone Technology and a redesigned Speed Pocket, all meaning, that you’re going to have a long, accurate drive with this club.

The M2 does feature the same Loft Sleeve as the M1 giving you 4 degrees of face adjustability with multiple loft options.

Key Differences: Both clubs offer the Loft Sleeve, giving you multiple options for lie, loft and face angle, but if you really want adjustability, the M1 is the way to go.

Head Size:

Both the M1 and M2 drivers are offered in a USGA max 460cc’s.  The M1 is also offered in a 430cc head size, which is geared toward better players.

The other major difference between the M1 and M2 driver is the price.  The M1 starts at $499.99 while the M2 retails for $399.99, so if price is a factor, you may want to opt for the slightly more affordable M2.

In the end, if you’re looking for a new driver this year, you’ve got two awesome options in the TaylorMade M1 and M2.  Stop by any Austad’s Golf location and speak to a Certified TaylorMade Custom Fitter.  They’ll let you swing both clubs, and help you determine which driver is really best for your game.

Introducing the Ping G Family

Thursday, January 21, 2016 8:54:20 AM America/North_Dakota/Center

 Introducing Ping G Family

  • Drive the ball farther without changing your swing. Turbulators combine with speed-generating Vortec Technology to reduce drag 37%, and laboratory testing has shown an increase in club head speed, resulting in measurable distance gain.
  • New Dragonfly Technology on the crown saves 8 grams, allowing PING to re-position saved weight for a more finely-tuned design.
  • CG is pushed back deeper than ever before, creating PING’s most forgiving driver ever. Don’t get penalized for a slight mishit.
  • Trajectory Tuning 2.0 Hosel with loft adjustments of ±1° helps you tune your G driver for a perfect fit.

PING Driver

PING G SF Tec Driver

  • Weighting near the club’s heel promotes a draw tendency & reduces slices, as well as slightly reducing swingweight. Great for a player who struggles with hitting fairways.

PING G LS Tec Driver

  • Reduces launch spin without sacrificing stability. Slightly forward & low CG will send drives high and long, and produce more rollout after landing.

Call 1-800-444-1234 to Pre-Order

  • Lower lead edge and CG positioning help you hit the ball higher, a common struggle for players of all levels.
  • Turbulator Technology on the crown increases swing speed for more distance, regardless of your ability.
  • Fast, stable Carpenter 455 steel Face is extra hot, and its high strength-to-weight ratio means your fairway can flex across the entire face, providing more ball speed, even on slight mishits.

  • CG position favors heel-side & swingweight is reduced to promote a draw-like ball flight.
  • Ideal for players who struggle with controlling a fade or slice.

  • Struggle to control a driver but want more distance from a fairway metal? Here’s your solution.
  • Larger head (184cc vs 167cc) & slightly-forward CG is long off the deck or tee, for more carry and less spin.
  • 13° stock loft can be adjusted ±1° to fine-tune for your needs.

Call 1-800-444-1234 to Pre-Order

  • Get more from your hybrids with an innovative tiered sole structure that helps the newly-designed face flex for more ball speed, with lowered spin rates.
  • Fast, stable head with turbulators Technology–a first for any PING hybrid. The tough-looking Turbulators actually help increase your swing speed, just as in the driver and fairway designs.
  • New Carpenter 455 Steel Face increases ball speed 3/4 mph, and as much as 1 mph on a mishit, meaning you’ll see distance improvements even on less-than-ideal shots.

Ping G Crossover ClubPING G CROSSOVER

  • Low, back CG position for the forgiveness and ball speed of a traditional hybrid.
  • Iron-like flat face allows you to control shot shape as though you were hitting an iron.
  • Launches higher than a driving iron or long iron, but not as high as a traditional hybrid, offering a new category in clubs, and more opportunity for you to hit great shots.

Call 1-800-444-1234 to Pre-Order

  • COR-Eye Technology increases stability and forgiveness, creating a players-inspired iron that is easy to hit.
  • New Hyper 17-4 Alloy, 40% stronger than traditional 17-4, leading to a club face that is thinner and more flexible, creating new levels of ball speed, distance gain and peak apex. Launch it high and stick greens from farther out.
  • Custom tuning port is low and concealed, increasing the MOI and lowering the CG to help you hit the ball farther and higher.

Golfer's 2016 New Year's Resolutions

Thursday, December 31, 2015 11:31:07 AM America/North_Dakota/Center

2016 Resolutions

1. Get In Shape

If you're like most Americans, the "get in shape" resolution has probably been on your list for a few years now.  Make 2016 your year of health and take some small steps toward a healthier lifestyle.  Why not start by walking 9 holes once a week?

A push cart like the ClicGear 3.5+ is one of the easiest ways to integrate more walking into your game.

Wanna walk more?  A great stand bag makes walking 9 or 18 holes a breeze...and you'll  look pretty cool too!
A great pair of golf shoes are the foundation that a great game is built upon.  This year, get some new shoes and get walking!

2. Refresh The Wardrobe

Why not resolve to throw out that old polo you've been wearing for 12 years and get a fresh new look for the course?  We have hundreds of styles up to 75% off, which means you can also check "save money" off your list of 2016 resolutions.

A great pullover like this Adidas Climawarm 1/4 zip makes a fantastic layering piece that can be worn easily on and off the course.

For a quick update to a stale wardrobe, why not add a fresh new belt?  This Nike Webbing Belt looks great and at $20 it's an accessory everyone can afford!
If you want to surprise your golf buddies in the best way possible, show up to the course in a bold polo like the one above.  2016 is the year of style!

3. Improve Relationships

Want to know the secret to living a good life?  Having great relationships.  Let's all resolve that in 2016, we'll spend less time at the office and more time cultivating relationships with friends and family.

When you golf with your kids, you're not only spending quality time with them, but you are teaching them about a game that they can enjoy for years.

If you've never hit the links with your significant other, give it a try in 2016!  You'll likely be surprised at how much fun the two of you can have golfing.
Want a great way to have more fun on the course?  Add a game into the mix and you've instantly added more excitement.  Mazuma is one of our faves.

4. Relax More

There's a fair chance that if you are a working adult in America, you're probably over-worked and over-stressed.  In 2016, resolve to take a little more time to enjoy life and commit to some downtime and maybe even a vacation or two.

You know what would be perfect in 2016?  A golf trip.  Get yourself a solid travel cover, load up and hit the links down south.  It's the perfect way to relax.

There may be nothing sweeter than pouring yourself a nice Arnold Palmer (or a John Daly) after a hard day's work or a rough 18.  These golf tumblers are great for a little R&R.
Commit to having more fun in the sun and shade your eyes in the coolest way possible.  These stylin' shades from Callaway are just perfect on and off the course.

5. Play Better Golf

Last but certainly not least, make 2016 your year to play better golf.  With the right equipment and know-how, you'll be shooting lower scores and having a whole lot more fun on the course.

An investment in better equipment is an investment that could pay off big time on the course.  The TaylorMade M1 Driver is the hottest club for a reason - find out why!
Get your short game up to snuff with a practice chipping net.  A little practice with those wedges around the house goes a long way on the course!

Play more accurate golf in 2016 by adding a rangefinder to your bag.  With accurate distances, you'll be knocking down the pin in no time!

Which Putter Is Right For You?

Wednesday, November 11, 2015 11:10:36 AM America/North_Dakota/Center

Putter Guide

How and why did you pick the putter that is in your golf bag?  Was it feel, look, brand, price, or another determining factor?  The putter is the most used club in your bag, and the average amateur golfer will use it anywhere from 25-40 times a round which equates to roughly 43% of your strokes in 18 holes.  Like the famous saying “drive for show, putt for dough” the putter can be a great equalizer for many players.  Finding a putter that complements you can make a huge difference on you making those pesky little 6 footers for par.

Ask yourself- how many putts do you have in a round?  What is your typical miss? Pulled left? Pushed right? Leaving the putt short? Blowing it past the hole? Burning edges?  Well if you answered yes to any of these take a look at what putter is in your bag and think of how you set up to it.

A few questions to consider: Where do you grip your putter?  Do you put your eyes directly over the ball?  Outside the ball?  Inside the ball?  All of these factors are influenced by the length of the putter.

Length is arguably the most important aspect of putter fitting because it has such a huge effect on how you set up to the ball and where your eyes are positioned.   Placing the golf ball on the inside or outside distorts your perception and when your eyes are outside moves it left and inside to the right.

     -  Generally when a putter is too long your eyes will be too far inside the ball and you may push putts to the right.

     -  When the putter is too short your eyes will be outside the ball and this will cause pulls to the left.

Finding a putter that allows you to set up properly/comfortably with a putter that complements your putting stroke will help you make more putts which will help lead you to less manipulation with your hands.

Depending on how you set up to the ball and where you position your body/eyes this has an impact on what style of putting stroke you may have.  Do you take the putter straight back straight through?  Do you have an arc?  Do you have a strong arc?  Putting is a touchy subject and there is not a definitive correct and incorrect putting stroke/setup.

Look at Jack Nicklaus, he is one of, if not the best golfer of all time and he putted in a non traditional way.  He generally was crouched directly over the ball, feet were close together with an open stance, hands right by his body with a forward press, elbows out, eyes behind the ball, while wearing a glove.  It may not have been the standard set up with the flatstick, but he made it work and his putting helped him break many records.  Most golfers today use a more traditional set up and finding a putter that helps you stay square through your putting stroke will drastically improve your putting.

Now that you have an idea on your set up and posture you can see what style of putter you have.  Whether it be a mallet, blade, belly, high MOI design or something else all of these styles have different balance points and weighting.  To find the balance point of your putter hold the shaft parallel to the ground with a finger and see what the face does.  If the putters face is flat and pointing to the sky you have a face balanced putter, if the toe is hanging down at a 2:00, 4:00, 6:00 o’clock position you have varying degrees of toe weighting.

Mallet PutterFace balanced= Generally a mallet, center shafted, or high MOI designs are great putters for those who like to putt on a straight back straight through stroke.  These golfers are usually over the ball with their eyes allowing their body to flow from square to square.

Toe weighted putters or putters with a slight toe hang or severe toe hang will help those players who are a little further away from the ball with their eyes positioned inside.  These players generally have a slight or strong arc to their strokes and on this path the putter comes from inside to square back to inside.  This weight being pushed out towards the toe helps you square the putter, so at impact you have a proper face angle.  The face angle at impact will determine the accuracy of your putt and putting with something that will not help you square your putter does not do you any favors.  Open face= pushed to the right.  Closed face=pulled to the left.  If you have a severe arc you may want to find a putter that hangs at 5:00 or 6:00 and has full toe weighting.

If you are using something that does not complement your stroke this could be a reason why you are missing putts!  Face angle (whether your putter is square, open, or closed at impact) errors are 70 percent more influential on the golf balls line of travel compared to path angle, making it crucial to have a putter that helps you square the club.

60% of the break of an average putt is going to occur within three feet of the hole and if you are pushing/pulling putts you will not hit your mark, thus not making more putts.  Off center hits on the putter have a huge effect on distance and direction the putt will travel and this is magnified if you can not square up your putter at impact.  Depending on your set up and stroke type certain putter designs will help you square the face at impact, which in turn will help make you drain more putts!

Haunted Golf Courses

For many, the scariest thing on the golf course is a snap hook or blow up hole, but at some golf courses, there are things much more frightening than the dreaded snowman.  There are stories and legends of golf courses where spirits roam the fairways and spooks haunt the greens.  It’s said that many double bogeys and lost balls are not the fault of golfers at these courses, but they are caused by the restless spirits who haunt the holes.  We’ve put together a list of the top 10 spooky and haunted golf courses – just don’t read it before bed – you may not sleep!

Victoria Golf Club BC1. Victoria Golf Club – Victoria, British Colombia

Even if you don’t believe in ghosts, the legend of the ghost that haunts Victoria Golf Club is one that will surely send a chill up your spine.  The story goes that in 1936, a woman named Doris Gravlin met up with her estranged husband on the course one night on the seventh hole.  Five days later, a caddie found her along the shoreline on the course.  When police found the body of her husband a month later, it was deemed a murder-suicide.

Ever since, reports of a woman in a white gown hanging around the course have popped up.  She’s known to rush towards people only to vanish at the last second.  There have also been reports of strange bursts of wind on totally calm days and one particularly disturbing take of a clammy hand grabbing a woman’s shoulder before vanishing.  Course security cameras have also picked up a strange glow floating around.  Pretty creepy!

2. City Park Golf Courses – New Orleans, Louisiana

If you’re a golfer, you’re familiar with the wide variety of noises and sounds that spring up during any given round.  However, hearing a gunshot and a scream is something that would surely throw off even the most staid golfer’s game.

The City Park Golf Courses in New Orleans, Louisiana reportedly plays host to a repeat of a grisly crime.  The story here is that in the early 1960’s, two women were just finishing their round when a man shot and killed one of them on the 18th green.  Decades later, people have heard the same sequence so clearly that it has prompted them to call the police.

Alister Mackenzie3. Pasatiempo Golf Club – Santa Cruz, California

It’s a real treat for most golfers to meet a famous golf designer, but meeting one from the beyond might be a different story.  The ghost of Alister Mackenzie, famous designer of illustrious courses like Augusta National and Cypress Point, reportedly walks the course regularly.  When Mackenzie passed away in 1934, his ashes were spread over Pasatiempo where he had a house built off the 6th hole..

4. Trails West Golf Course – Fort Leavenworth, Kansas

In the late 1800’s, many settlers from the East Coast were moving west in the hopes of planting roots with their families.  Catherine Sutter was one such settler who was traveling through Fort Leavenworth with her two children in the 1880’s when tragedy struck.  Her two children disappeared one day and Catherine spent months over a cold Kansas winter searching for them.  After months of searching, Sutter died of grief.

The legend is that the kids were kept safe by Native Americans over the winter and were brought back in the spring only to find that their mother had perished.  Today, some golfers at Trails West have claimed to see a woman wandering the course with a lantern in hand, searching for her lost children forevermore.

Martyrs Monument St Andrews5. St. Andrews Old Course – St. Andrews, Scotland

Some golfers who have the honor to play the game at the birthplace of golf, have reported an eerie feeling on hole 18.  Strange chills and odd breezes have been known to frighten certain golfers and there are a few things that could be to blame.  In the 15th and 16th centuries, Protestant martyrs were burned at the stake and are honored with a monument directly behind the 18th green.

In addition, Old Tom Morris actually passed away at St. Andrews.  Legend has it that he was searching for a restroom when he fell down the stairs and fractured his skull.  Either way, if you’re at St. Andrews, make sure you say hello to the ghost of a true golfing legend.

6. Lincoln Park Golf Course – San Francisco, California

Lincoln Park Golf Course in San Francisco offers some of the most breathtaking views of the San Francisco skyline and the Golden Gate Bridge.  However, it may take your breath away for something much less pleasant.  The course  was actually built right on top of the Golden Gate Cemetary, which housed more than 1,000 corpses.

The cemetary had been in use until the mid-1800’s when it was repurposed by the city to make way for the new Lincoln Park Golf Course in 1909.  Families that were wealthy enough paid to move the remains of their deceased did so, but the large “potter’s field” for poor residents was left unmoved and the course was built right on top.  Patrons of the course are now welcomed by a variety of spirits.

7. Church Stretton Golf Club – Shropshire, England

You may think that the biggest hazard on a golf course would be the bunkers, but at Church Stretton Golf Club in Shropshire, England, the biggest hazard is a ball-stealing ghost.  The 13th hole is home to a Bermuda Triangle of sorts where golfers tee off, walk to their ball, only to find that it has disappeared.  Some blame the bird population for the disappearing balls, but based on the fact that golfers have been plagued for decades with vanishing ball syndrome, we’re pretty sure that sources from beyond are to blame.

Garrison Golf Club Hole 148. Garrison Golf Club – Garrison, New York

One of the greatest scary stories of all time, the Legend of Sleepy Hollow and the Headless Horseman, was based in the Hudson River Valley, so those who play Garrison Golf Club may already feel a bit ill at ease.  When you add to that the fact that the Par 3 14th Green is surrounded by a slave graveyard.  The old tombstones are now cracked and covered with moss, which adds to the creepy vibe.  To play it safe, if you play Garrison, you’ll probably just want to take a quick birdie and move on to Hole 15 as quickly as possible.

9. Mt. Lawley Golf Club, Perth, Australia

Mt. Lawley Golf Club in Perth Australia has had more paranormal sightings than almost every golf course in the world.  It probably doesn’t help that they have a hole named “Satan’s Elbow”.  That kind of creative naming is bound to draw some attention from beyond.  It may have started in 1930 when the body of a young man named Michael Oakleigh was found on Satan’s Elbow.  He apparently had committed suicide by poisoning.  Since then there have been multiple reports of apparitions, floating orbs and golfers being seized with fear for no apparent reason.  Spooky indeed!

10. Aetna Springs Golf Course – Pope Valley, California

Aetna Springs Golf Course plays host to many golfers every year, but the course also hosts something much more eerie.  The course is said to be haunted by the spirits of 8 monks.  The monks were reportedly tortured and killed in the 15th century and some golfers claim to have seen them wandering the course.  The spectral monks bear clean-shaven heads and their faces are contorted in pain.
